V0, Lovable, Replit, Base44: Which AI Builder Should You Use?

Four tools. Four personalities. One question: which gets you building?
There are now several platforms that let you build working software from natural language prompts. Each one has a different personality. Here's how we think about them.
V0 (v0.dev)
Made by Vercel, the company behind Next.js. V0 is our go-to for web applications. It's fast, produces clean code, and deploys instantly to a live URL.
Best for: Experienced builders who want production-quality output. We used V0 to build an online radio station in a single session. Sweet spot: Web apps, dashboards, marketing sites. Bonus: V0 will often fix errors in your prompts at no extra cost, saving you tokens.
Lovable
The most beginner-friendly option. Lovable holds your hand through the process and produces visually polished results with less prompt engineering.
Best for: People new to vibe coding who want quick wins. Sweet spot: Landing pages, simple apps, prototypes. Trade-off: Less control over the technical details.
Replit
A full development environment in the browser. Replit gives you more flexibility than the others but requires a bit more technical comfort.
Best for: People who want to learn while building. Sweet spot: Backend services, APIs, full-stack apps. Trade-off: Steeper learning curve than V0 or Lovable.
Base44
Rapid prototyping with a focus on speed. Several members of our community have had good results with Base44 for getting ideas off the ground quickly.
Best for: Fast iteration on new ideas. Sweet spot: MVPs, proof-of-concept builds. Trade-off: Less mature ecosystem than the others.

Start friendly. Graduate to powerful. The skills transfer.
If you're just starting out, try Lovable first. It's the most forgiving. Once you're comfortable describing what you want and iterating on results, move to V0 for more control. Graduate to Cursor when you're ready to own your entire stack.
The Real Answer

Just start building.
The best platform is the one that gets you building. New to all this? Start with what vibe coding actually is. Don't spend weeks comparing features. Pick one, describe what you want, and see what happens. You can always switch later -- the skills transfer.
